Yin/Yang Slaw…

We’re having dinner tonight at a friend’s (Who doesn’t love a little Tuesday night barbeuque?  Isn’t summer the best?), and I’m bringing a salad.  I chuckled when reading cookiecrumb’s blog, at her mention of “mayonnaise season.”  Usually barbeque salads involve mayo and potatoes, pasta or cabbage.  Well, not this one, darn it.
This one is [...]

Lucky us! We had lots of local meals this week, including frittata, pasta with fresh pesto, and….lobster! We also enjoyed a barbequed chicken from No View Farm. Yummy, yummy. So, respectfully submitted for this week:

Chicken: 15 miles

I have two cats. Both are pushing 16 years old. One gets a shot of insulin everyday. The vet said he’d be around for about a year with the diabetes. We’re going on three years.

Our week 4 meal was a yummy grilled steak from Rock Farm, along with a green salad of lettuce, cucumbers, those cute little red peppers, radishes, carrots, snap peas and kohlrabi, and featuring yummy potatoes, grilled scallions and, yes….corn! Food Photo-ly Challenged

I took the pictures on the header of this blog. Really, I did. I think they’re pretty good, too. Maybe not earth-shatteringly award-winning good, but good for a click and shoot Canon PowerShot! The hosta with the iris is in Monet’s garden in Giverny, the dog is my awesome pup, the [...]

After a long morning of emptying closets and bringing about 25 bags of clothes to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Laconia, I was very excited to be able to drive over to The Community School Garden in Tamworth, to pick up my second weekly CSA share.
This week features more of the greens [...]

Recently, on her interesting blog, Jennifer Jeffrey has been musing about the pressure that the local food movement puts on already over-burdened, ever-harried women. Women juggling work, kids, partners, friends and family, understandably appreciate the convenience of take-out food, drive-through windows and prepared grocery store meals. Convenience, Jeffrey points out, has been our [...]

I’m a couple of days late posting this meal, and unfortunately, for my first go at sharing I don’t have a photo. However, let me tell you…it was damn good. We ate a thinly-sliced, grilled top steak from Rock Farm (they don’t have their own website up and running yet) in Wolfeboro (my [...]
