I have two cats. Both are pushing 16 years old. One gets a shot of insulin everyday. The vet said he’d be around for about a year with the diabetes. We’re going on three years.
I don’t hate my cats. However, there is a picture of my dog in the header of this blog, not my cats. That’s not by accident.
The most frustrating part of owning my cats is these dang kitty litter containers. I’m not trying to endorse any particular brand, but I do use the clumping litter. With a diabetic cat, there’s a lot of clumps. The clumping litter is, frankly, necessary in our house.
What do people do with all those giant, plastic containers, though? We’re growing some tomatoes in them this year, and they serve as buckets for everything from gardening supplies to tools. They even show up when we have people over for lobster, as they make great shell receptacles.
But I just feel guilty whenever it’s time to get rid of a big pile of permaplastic. Is there something else? What do people do with these?

I think you’re living the term “re-use”… so wonderful that you’ve found so many ways to utilize the buckets! I guess they could probably be recycled at the very end, once you’ve used them every-which way…?
