There it was on the shelf by the other yogurt, just hanging out, innocently awaiting discovery:
Greek yogurt! And if that’s not great enough, by golly, it’s local Greek yogurt, made by Stonyfield Farm. Yippee!
In my quest for local food, it’s breakfast that I’ve found most challenging so far, as I’ve started back to school and require a grab-and-go type of system. Grab it on the way out the door, go to work, eat when I’ve got a chance.
As a result, I’ve always tried really, really hard to like yogurt, especially since local cereal is non-existent. But I’m just not a big fan. Somehow it’s always been too tart for me. Not pleasing.
But this yogurt. Well, it’s much, much better. You see, I found that I did not hate yogurt while traveling in Europe. Most every hotel that offered breakfast featured yogurt. And the yogurt over there? Thicker, richer, less tart. Dare I say it, I actualy liked it. It wasn’t a chore to get through.
So I was interested when I heard about Greek yogurt. Supposedly thicker due to the straining process, richer. Could it be?
I was thrilled to see the Greek yogurt at my local grocery story, even more thrilled to see that it was Stonyfield! I wouldn’t have to wait until October to try it! I bought the plain, added a little local honey and a chopped, local peach. Three words: Fab. U. Lous! I might just be a yogurt for breakfast convert!
So, thanks to Stonyfield, my breakfast on the go can still be from my own state!

I recently discovered this stuff too – add in a dollop of chokecherry syrup (home made of course) and I’m in heaven. :=)
