Katrina, over at Kale for Sale, is counting down the 25 Green Days of Christmas with fabulous tips for a more sustainable, less carbon-hungry Christmas. On day three, she had a great idea to use leaves as gift tags – not only would this be gorgeous on a gift (labeled with a sharpie and tied on with a cute little scrap of ribbon) but who doesn’t have leaves in their yard?
Well, actually, me. This time of year, the prettiest vegetation is mostly pine needles, which, as you can imagine, doesn’t have the same effect. And after I realized that the sustainability-factor was decidedly lower if I went out and purchased imported greenery, I’ve been keeping my eyes out for an alternative.
Well, that alternative just walked into my house tonight, in the form of a gift of holiday greens:
I’m going to enjoy it in the weeks leading up to Christmas, then use those pretty leaves (maybe with a metallic paint pen?!) to label my gifts. I’ll post a picture of one. Can’t wait! Thanks, Katrina!
I’m so glad we don’t have pine needles in our yard because the cute guy thinks it would be ever so clever to weave them into gift cards. I can’t wait to see your post with the finished product. Have fun!
