I’ve tried to organize this page by town/region around Lake Winnipesaukee, as well as provide a number of state-wide resources to use when exploring other parts of the state (keep that cooler in the car!).
State & National resources:
- 2008 NH Farm Stand Directory (PDF)
- NH Made (online resource for a variety of NH-made products, not just food!)
- SeacoastEatLocal.Org (publishes Seacoast Harvest, a local eating guide, available online)
- PickYourOwn.Org (directory of pick-your-own farms across the country)
- Local Harvest (fabulous nation-wide directory of CSAs, farmstands, restaurants, etc.
Moultonborough Area (also Tamworth, Holderness, Sandwich)
- Ledgewood Farm – my favorite farmstand because it’s closest to my humble abode, and pretty much every fruit and vegetable in there came from the farm two miles from me
- The Community School Garden – Actually in South Tamworth, my CSA.
- The Sandwich Creamery – local dairy. Great cheese – even better late-night trip for ice cream from the source
- Long Haul Farm – If you’re exploring the Holderness/Sandwich area, consider a stop here!
- Maplewood Farm – Fresh eggs and meat. Vittum Hill, Sandwich.
Meredith Area
- Moulton Farm – a great, big, colorful, fun farmstand. Lots of produce from their own farm and local, New Hampshire sources, including local meat and dairy. They also carry veggies and other products that are not necessarily local, so if that matters to you, ask ’em.
Gilford Area
- Beans & Greens – great place to browse and pick up most everything you might need for a local meal
- Smith Farmstand (call 524-7673 for updates, no website) – not only a farmstand, but also a pick-your-own for strawberries and raspberries.
Wolfeboro Area
- Rock Farm Meats – All my beef, pork and chicken come from here.
- Bly Farm Stand – 620 Center Street, Wolfeboro (Rt. 28), 569-1411 (no website)
Got your link from the farm story by Elanor. We are neighbors it seems, and share interests. hello.
Hi Kim, Great blog! I am also a CSA member at the Community School and live in Moultonborough. My family and I are also interested in eating locally, so I’ll be checking back frequently for ideas and resources. Thanks!
Hi, I just ran across your blog (thanks to Union Leader) and am very interested. Do you have any listing of resources around the Plymouth or White Mt. region?
Thanks, Ed
Welcome, Ed! Try Local Foods Plymouth, at http://lfp.dacres.org/ for some resources for your area. Be sure to check out Long Haul Farm, as well as the farm stand on Rte. 125 between Plymouth and Holderness!
Hi, I am a first time visitor to your website and it looks very interesting. I am looking for information. I was at the Plymouth farm market this summer and found a stand where I purchased a very outstanding loaf of bread. It was from a small local bakery and I would vey much like to locate it. Do you have a listing of local bakeries?
Also, after a quick perusal of your website, I did not find any listing of local sources of localy raised or produced foods. Do you have such a list or reference to possible sources of such a list?
Thanks, Ed
Ed: Perhaps it was Sunnyfield (http://sunnyfield.us/)? All-natural, brick-oven bread from Wonalancet/Tamworth, NH.
